Have you ever stayed in a trendy, boutique hotel? I am sure you have. But, have you ever stayed in a trendy, boutique container that was made out of recycled material? I don’t think you have.
Let me reveal some light on the amazing Flophouze in Round Top, Texas. Made from collected recycled material from all over the world, this is a must stop destination on your next road trip in Texas.
The man behind this creativity is Matt White, a kind, generous man who has traveled many places around the world collecting vintage arts and pieces, antique treasures and much more to create these wonderful houzes for his guests to stay.
Each container has its own funky vibe and individuality, completed with everything that a big, fancy hotel in Times Square might have. Im talking about air conditioning, kitchenette with full facilities, outdoor BBQ, comfy hammocks, wooden fireplace, Wifi, a record player and much much more to make your stay as unique and comfortable as possible.
Located in the small town of Round Top, the containers are literally in the middle of no where, which added to the excitement for me! There is endless land with gorgeous sunrises and sunsets and plenty of friends to keep you company …
Im talking about the cows! These gentle creatures live literally next door so don’t forget to say hello to them every morning for me!
While you are visiting don’t forget to take a walk and check out all the collected artefacts and recycled pieces that they have in their big backyard! Not only that, but if anything tickles your fancy then just let them know and you will receive 10% off your purchases.
Now let me share with you how I came across Flophouze, I have to thank https://www.worldofcrew.com for giving me the opportunity to visit Flophouze in the first place.
For those of you who don’t know, World of Crew gives awesome crew benefits and perks ALL over the world, so go check them out and show them some love!
Myself, Suchada, Marina and the amazing GoPro photographer Imad, or you might know him as @caludgero on Instagram rented out a car for our 48 hour layover in Dallas and drove out to Round Top as soon as we landed from our 14 hour flight.
Sounds crazy right? … Welcome to the life of a cabin crew, where tiredness is a mere thought and not actually something that stops us from seeing the world, no matter how tired and jet lagged we feel.
As soon as we arrived we were welcomed by the owner Matt himself and he was so friendly and just lovely, we settled in and Matt invited us to hop into his ute to go to one of his friends properties to check it out, as the sun was setting and this is the time when the spotted deer and various other animals tend to come out to let us humans catch a glimpse. We quickly and quite literally jumped into the back of his ute and headed off.
When we got there we were introduced to a few of Matts friends who were as hilarious as they were nice and we immediately saw a huge herd of deer.
They really didn’t like our company though, because the noise from Imads drone was freaking them out. But we got some awesome footage.
The next morning we woke up bright and early and Matt took us to an even smaller town for breakfast at a lovely place called Orsaks Cafe and it was perfect!
Like something out of an American movie! Think old school diner in the middle of a deserted small town with quotes and old movie pictures covering the walls. We had a simple but tasty breakfast, said our goodbyes and then headed off to the infamous Jacobs’s Well.
A little history on this place, it is known as one of the most dangerous spots for divers on Earth, having claimed more than eight divers in the past, due to its complicated channels and passageways below in the dark. Nowadays people like to visit to take the plunge from a high rock above and to cool off in the summer.
We stopped in so many little towns and places to check it out and take photos, we even saw a HUGE group of black vultures fighting over the leftover pieces of a roadkill.
They were so evil looking just like the vultures from Snow White which is why I was so fascinated to see them up close. They barely even budged when we had to drive through them!
When we got back to the hotel we were absolutely exhausted, but the experience itself was just so worth it and the company and new friends we made was magical.
Please if any of you come to Texas, then you must come and visit Flophouze and see for yourself how much there is to see and do in these small towns alone!
Go see for yourself at www.flophouze.com/
Until next time, safe flying everyone and I’ll talk to you all soon!
